“There is a road, no simple highway, between the dawn and the dark of night and if you go then who is to guide you? That path is for your steps alone” - The Grateful Dead
I have wanted to walk the pilgrimage path of Santiago de Compostela since I heard of it around 40 years ago. But… life. At first no money. Then children and all that family life entails. And then a busy career and getting by by the seat of my pants. Then seminary and my exploration with ordination in the Episcopal church. Then the COVID years.
Now I find I can make a 40-day window in my life to walk the Way of St. James (aka Santiago) and I will be setting forth in a little more than three weeks now.
It is one thing to dream of a thing - a child, a job, a partner, a pilgrimage - but when it comes close to being actualized it is easy to feel afraid. But I know that confidence does not come from sitting and waiting for it. Confidence comes from taking a leap of faith and landing in a new place.
I plan to post here most (perhaps not every) day from my 500 mile walk across Spain. I promise to have more pictures and maybe a video here and there (once I figure out the tech side of things)
I hope you will accompany me on this journey of a lifetime
